What is Recording Humanity?

Recording Humanity is a space for people around the world to share their thoughts, beliefs, lessons, and experiences through their own voices. It's about preserving the little things that make us human, one story at a time.

What can I share?

Anything meaningful to you. It could be something you heard or read somewhere that stayed with you, a belief you hold, a lesson you've learned, advice you'd give, or simply a thought you wish more people knew.

What matters most is the story behind it. Tell us why it resonated with you, how it shaped your perspective, or why you think it's worth sharing.

It doesn't have to be extraordinary. Sometimes the simplest things mean the most.

Do I have to reveal who I am?

Not at all. You can choose to share your story without displaying your name.

Just remember that even without a name, your voice or personal details could still make you recognizable.

Who can hear my recording?

Anyone. Recording Humanity is a public archive, so people from around the world can discover and listen to your story.

What if I don't know what to say?

That's completely okay. We've included some questions and prompts to help you get started if you're unsure where to begin.

But they're just there for inspiration. You're free to talk about anything that matters to you. Whether it's a personal experience, a passing thought, or something you've been wanting to put into words, there's no right or wrong way to share.

Can I listen to my recording before sharing it?

Yes! You'll have the opportunity to listen back and record again before deciding to publish your story.

Do I need an account?

No, you don't need an account to share your story. Anyone can contribute.

However, if you publish a recording without an account, you can only delete it right after publishing, while you stay on the page, and you won't be able to edit or update it in the future. Creating an account gives you more control over your contributions after they're published.

Can I delete or make changes to my story after publishing it?

If you published your recording with an account, you can return to edit or delete your contribution.

If you published without an account, you can delete your recording, or delete it and record it again, from the confirmation page that appears right after you publish, so if you notice a mistake, do it there. This only works while you stay on that page: once you reload it or leave the website, your recording remains in the public archive, and you won't be able to make changes or remove it yourself.

Please note: Deleting a recording from Recording Humanity does not guarantee its removal from other platforms. If your story has already been shared on social media or other websites, those copies may remain accessible even after the original recording is deleted.

The publishing rights you select when submitting your recording are final and cannot be changed once it's uploaded.

Will my recording be shared on other platforms?

Your recording may be featured or distributed through Recording Humanity's social media channels and other platforms, depending on the publishing rights you select when submitting your story.

Once your recording has been shared outside Recording Humanity, we may not be able to remove every copy. Other users may also have downloaded, reposted, or shared it.

We encourage you to review your publishing choices carefully before submitting, as those permissions cannot be changed after publication.

Is there a time limit for recordings?

Yes! Recordings can be anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes long.

Whether you have a quick thought to share or a longer story to tell, take the time you need. It's not about how much you say, but what you want to share.

Why does Recording Humanity exist?

Because everyone carries experiences worth hearing, even if they don't realize it.

We believe that sharing our perspectives helps us understand each other a little better. Recording Humanity gives those thoughts and voices a place to be heard and remembered.

Tell us what you think.

Found something confusing, broken, or missing? Have an idea for a prompt? Recording Humanity is still growing, and we read every message.
