Terms of use
By using Recording Humanity, to listen or to share a story, you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.
Listening
Anyone can listen to the archive. Stories are personal views shared by individuals. They are not statements by Recording Humanity, and we don't endorse them.
Sharing a story
- Share your own voice and your own words, or something you have the right to share.
- Don't include private details about other people, such as full names, addresses or contact information.
- No hate, threats, harassment, sexually explicit material, impersonation, spam or advertising, and nothing unlawful.
- Don't include music or recordings that belong to someone else.
Recordings run from 10 seconds to 5 minutes. We may remove any story that breaks these rules, or that we believe could harm someone, without notice.
You keep your story. We need your permission to share it
Your story stays yours. When you publish, you give Recording Humanity a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, stream, display and distribute your recording, your line and the name you chose to show, as part of the public archive.
If you tick the optional box, you also allow us to adapt your story into short-form video content, such as Instagram Reels, and to share it on our social channels and other platforms.
The permissions you choose when publishing are final and can't be changed afterwards. They last for as long as your story is in the archive, and don't reach back to copies that were already shared before it was removed.
Everything is public
The archive is public. Anyone can listen to your story, and others may download, repost or share it. The voice-disguise options make you harder to recognize, but they don't guarantee anonymity.
Deleting a story
Accounts aren't open yet. A story published as a guest can be deleted by its author only from the page shown right after publishing, and only until that page is reloaded or closed; after that, it can't be deleted by its author. When accounts are available, people who publish with one will be able to edit or delete their stories. Deleting a story from Recording Humanity does not remove it from other platforms where it was already shared.
Reporting a problem
If a story breaks these rules, exposes someone's private information, or uses your work without permission, tell us through the feedback form and include which story you mean. We will review it and may remove it.
The site
The Recording Humanity name, logo, design and software belong to us. The stories belong to the people who shared them. Please don't scrape, copy or republish the archive in bulk, or try to disrupt the service.
No guarantees
The site is provided as it is, and it is still growing. We can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Recording Humanity isn't liable for losses that come from using the site or from the stories shared on it.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site changes. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms.
